Chimu peeps, there will be an Exhibition-Workshop next week Friday the 14th of March infront of the Rhodes University library from 4pm till…well till the library peeps and the English department call CPU (Children’s Protection Unit). A Very Important Friend (VIF) of Chimurenga Workshop, Njairo Kulundu will be blessing us with sweet melodies and strings, holla back. Still waiting for confirmation from one more band. Photographers, painters, sculptors…you know what to do! WE NEED COLOUR…as usual the Chimurenga journal will be on sale. Our own local journal peeps can introduce the whole local journal idea to peeps…If it all comes together we will see if we can’t get a few copies to the Pan African Market in Kalikuta Republic, Cape Town.

And then we collaborating with Nia a local Afro Indigenous Band at the Yellow House…entrance fee will be 20 bucks local currency. Check the space for more info…

Still waiting for confirmation from Ntone Edjabe to see if he can’t come down sometime this term to give a talk on an academic level and have the whole Fong Kong Bantu Sound System going on off campus…that will be some sort of our own Chimurenga 12/13 launch. One other thing…there’s a drama-marimba group which comprises of blind performers…we thinking of raising funds for them…as usual, we don’t leave other art genres behind…we are working on getting the Rhodes theatre. All the money that we get from door takings will be donated to the group.

And then the ARTS FEST…we have to see if we can’t do something with Word Fest or even better, how about we have OUR OWN FEST?

After these three or more events we are looking at the First African Film Fest (Guerilla Film Fest) in the history of Rhodes. If you know of any African films of high cinematic quality with relevance to the subject matter as well as being entertaining and thought provoking you will be utilised. Again, after every screening we will have an exhibition…paintings, photographs, sculptures…we looking at Eden Grove…GET CREATIVE.

‘nough said…one thing at the time…exhibition next week in front of the library (4pm Friday the 14th e’kse).
